Dear Neighbor,
I wanted to share an opportunity for parents to help keep your precious kids safe on the road! Properly fitting restraints help keep infants and children unharmed during a collision. To make sure your cars seats are meet the proper safety requirements, parents can register for a car seat inspection on Thursday, November 16th at Wayne Township Fire Station 81.
In 2023, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that 30% of 0-3-year old children that were killed in crashes were not buckled up. Similarly, the amount of these deaths rises in the 8-12 year age range to 36%. The data is clear; an improper restraint results in higher risk for mortality during an accident. The best way to prevent injury or death from a crash is to ensure children are buckled securely in an age-appropriate restraint.
For parents interested in attending, children must be present to properly fit your child. New car seats will be available for families that need them. A donation of $10 dollars is suggested, but not required. Time slots are available between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. To make an appointment, call or text (317) 944-1235.
Sincerely,
Renee Pack, District 92 State Representative
